Welcome to our BEAUTIFUL Estate
The story of Stellenbosch Vineyard begins on March 12th, 1694, when the estate was officially registered – a land grant from Cape Governor Simon van der Stel to a pioneering settler with a vision for the land. The iconic Cape Dutch buildings, dating back to 1780, have been lovingly preserved and are now protected as national monuments. But they’re more than relics – they’re part of everyday life. I still live in the old Manor House where I grew up, and the original winery now hosts our award-winning restaurant.

In 1977, my parents, Frederik and Helena du Toit, took over Stellenbosch Vineyard and began restoring it with care and vision. The historic winery was revived, and by 1978, a new chapter had begun with the first vintage. They replanted the vineyards, focusing on Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot – grapes that still define our wines today.
Now, Stellenbosch Vineyard is a place where heritage and passion come together. I’m proud to carry the legacy forward, on land that has always felt like home.

WINE TASTING EXPERIENCE
Stellenbosch Vineyard is located just south of Stellenbosch, around 15km from False Bay. Nestled on the lower slopes of the Helderberg Mountain at elevations between 85 and 130 meters, the estate enjoys ideal conditions for red wine production. North-facing vineyards, with subtle variations in aspect, allow for layered complexity in the wines.
Naturally sheltered from prevailing winds, our estate benefits from a warmer microclimate – perfect for cultivating full-bodied reds. We focus on Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, two varieties that thrive in our soils and climate. The result: powerful, structured wines with depth, elegance, and exceptional ageing potential.
All our wines are estate grown, vinified, and bottled on-site – a true expression of our terroir.
